Fix the computer's date and time

Resto stamps every bill and order with the computer's date and time. When the clock is wrong, bills would print the wrong date, so Resto pauses until it is fixed. Nothing is lost: your orders and settings are safe.

The best fix: let Windows set the time itself

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Time & language → Date & time.
  3. Turn on Set time automatically.
  4. Check Time zone is your own. In India it is (UTC+05:30) Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi. If it is wrong, turn off Set time zone automatically and pick the right one.
  5. Press Sync now.
  6. Go back to Resto and press Check again.

The computer needs the internet for this. Once it is on, Windows keeps the clock right by itself.

No internet?

In the same Date & time page, turn off Set time automatically, press Change next to Set the date and time manually, enter today's date and the current time, then press Check again in Resto.

The clock goes wrong again after the computer is switched off

The small battery on the computer's motherboard (called the CMOS battery, usually a CR2032 coin cell) has run down. It keeps the clock running while the power is off. Any computer repair shop can replace it in a few minutes, cheaply. Until then, keep Set time automatically on and the internet connected, and the clock will correct itself each time the computer starts.
